Spatial Planning and Transport
Through our involvement in spatial planning and transport, Natural England aims to protect and enhance the natural environment and contribute to the delivery of our strategic outcomes. We seek to embed our principles for planning and transport into policy at national, regional and local levels and ensure that development delivers positive outcomes for the natural environment and people’s enjoyment of it.
Planning and transport policy cuts across the breadth of Natural England’s work and has a key role in ensuring that development is environmentally sustainable and benefits biodiversity, landscape and outdoor recreation and contributes to tackling climate change.
