Agenda for the 32nd Meeting of the Countryside Agency
1. Apologies for absence
2. Chairman to sign minutes of meeting held 14 November 2002
This paper updates the Board on action taken as a result of decisions from previous Board meetings and progress made on those issues.
4. Implementing the lost ways project (AP02/38)
The process of recording public rights of way on the definitive map is still not complete. Detailed archive research into routes not yet recorded is essential before 2026 to prevent them being extinguished. This paper asks for the Board's agreement to undertake extensive research into pre 1949 public rights of way; to agree to the establishment of an arms length Archive Research Unit; and to agree the establishment of an independent Rights of Way Claims Trust to convert the findings of the research into formal applications to modify the definitive map.
