Peak District EQM
The Peak District Environmental Quality Mark (EQM) has now been awarded to over 20 members in the National Park and more are hoping to join. Sir Martin Doughty, Deputy Chair of the National Park Authority, said, "Buying local products from local producers where a set of high quality environmental standards have been met is good for the environment and good for business." The Mark is a voluntary accreditation scheme rewarding businesses in the Peak District that show high standards of environmental and conservation management. To qualify for the EQM, businesses have to achieve high standards of care for the environment in all aspects of management including;
- Conservation of the Peak District National Park
- Use of locally grown & produced products and services
- Use of environmentally friendly products
- Efficient use of energy & water
- Minimisation of waste
- Provision of environmental information

Northamptonshire Food Group
The newly launched Northamptonshire Food Group has received funding from Northamptonshire Partnership. Carol Puddephatt, National Farmers Union policy advisor and acting chair of the group said, 'This latest funding support will help us get the group off the ground. One of the first things we will be doing is compiling a food directory of local producers and trade buyers for Northamptonshire'. The group is also organising a 'meet the caterer' event on the 18th of February, contact Ken Jones on 01604 450363 or kenjones.fiss@ntlworld.com

New Forest Local Food
New Forest food should soon have a reputation to rival that of the French if the plans of a local action group pay off. The area's LEADER+ Local Action Group has approved funding for two projects that will help New Forest producers and put local food and craft products firmly on the map. The job of the proposed new co-ordinator will be to help producers make their products more widely available locally, to encourage more local shops, restaurants, hotels and consumers to buy locally produced food, to improve the marketing of New Forest products, and to help organize promotional events. Source: Leader+ programme press release.
