National Trails

There are 3 existing National Trails in the region - the Pennine Way, Cleveland Way and Yorkshire Wolds Way - providing 300 miles (483 km) of well managed paths giving access to some of the finest landscapes in northern England.
The first purpose-built long distance bridleway for horse riders, mountain bikers and walkers also passes through the region. Once fully open it will run from the High Peak Trail in Derbyshire through the Yorkshire Dales National Park and onwards to Byrness, Northumberland, around 350 miles.
It is opening in stages and 120 miles from Derbyshire to the Mary Towneley Loop is currently open.
