Countryside in and around Towns North West, June 2006

The Countryside Agency has published a document to promote the potential of the urban fringe in the North West by showing how some areas in the region are already being planned and managed to combine social, economic and environmental benefits.

"Countryside in and around Towns North West" - published in June 2006 - sets out some of the work which the Countryside Agency has been involved in over the past few years.

The publication is designed to be informative but easy to read, and is relevant to people working in many different sectors, from countryside management to public health and economic development.  It gives good practice examples to show how the countryside around towns might be able to contribute to their own work goals and targets.

It gives further contact details and other sources of information so that people can follow up any of the case studies contained within it.

Copies of "Countryside in and around Towns North West" can be obtained from Clare Mumford at the Countryside Agency's Manchester office, tel 0161 234 0223 or email info.northwest@countryside.gov.uk
