National Trails

National Trails provide over 2,500 miles (4,000km) of the nation's favourite rambles and rides, offering some of the best walking, riding and cycling experiences in the country. National Trails pass through some of the most stunning and diverse landscapes in Britain.

Each National Trail has a dedicated full time manager ensuring the needs of visitors are looked after whether visiting for day trips, weekends or longer breaks.

The West Midlands has one National Trail at present, which is the Offa’s Dyke National Trail.

Offa's Dyke Path is one of fifteen designated National Trails in England and Wales. The Offa's Dyke Path passes through 177 miles of some of the best countryside the region has to offer. Natural England works with the Countryside Council for Wales to manage the National Trail.

The trail runs through countryside featuring gentle valleys and steep sided ridges. It has sections of both woodland and exposed hillside. The terrain is mildly challenging and has a combination of both wild and spectacular countryside and gently rolling landscapes.

You can find out more about the Offa's Dyke Path from the National Trails website.
