WHI is an initiative of Natural England and the British Heart Foundation.

Walking the way to Health (WHI) is the largest national body promoting and setting the standards for led health walks.  It is a joint initiative between Natural England and the British Heart Foundation.  WHI has helped to create a network of over 525 local health walk schemes and has trained over 34,000 volunteer walk leaders.

Although originally envisaged as a 5-year programme, the success of the scheme has led to further funding.  This will enable us to continue to encourage people to "Walk more... feel the difference."
