NCAF 13/1 - Mapping open country and registered common land in England
Mapping Consultation
Roadshows
The three month public consultation period on the draft maps for the south east of England and the lower north west came to to a close at midnight on the 11th February 2002.
During the consultation period the Agency have held 29 roadshows (16 in the north west and 13 in the south east), these have been very well attended, with over 4000 people coming to talk to us. In some cases these have been quite lively events with the highest levels of attendance in areas where extensive amounts of open country have been shown on the draft map.
Responses to the draft map
By the close of the consultation we had received 6113 responses to the draft map, 68% of these relate to the lower north west and 32% to the south east. The table below summarises the nature of the responses:

Almost 60% of the comments received have been from people with a legal interest in the land, 20% have been from recreational users and the remainder from local residents.
The Agency are now analysing and assessing all the comments received and where necessary will be making site visits to determine what changes need to be made to the maps before they are issued in provisional form
