How do Greenways relate to other routes, e.g. Sustrans routes, Rights of Way etc.?
Greenways are a part of the wider network of non-motorised routes, alongside these other types. Indeed, Rights of Way, Sustrans routes and others can also be considered as Greenways, as long as they meet the basic aims of Greenways.

Quiet Lanes are another important part of this network, providing links between different types of routes.

Where a Greenway can link with other types of route, especially strategic routes that meet regular journey needs, their value is greatly enhanced. It is also beneficial if Greenways can link with public transport connections.

In order to identify those routes that are most important and which can deliver most benefits, each Demonstration Project has produced (or is in the process of producing) a "Greenways Strategy". They have also mapped the network (both existing and potential) which helps to identify "missing links" and prioritise routes. The Demonstration findings provides information on the Strategies produced.
