Diversity Review Research

The Diversity Review's research started in 2002 and is comprised of the following:

 

  1. Scoping research
    This project scoped literature, reviewed exisiting projects and identified the need for further research.  This work was carried out by OPENspace and was published in March 2003.  

  2. "What About Us?" Diversity Review evidence - part 1
    Challenging perceptions: under-represented groups' visitor needs
    This research aimed to assess how different groups of under-represented people perceive the countryside, how this impacts on their use of the countryside and what needs to be done to diversity the countryside.  The work carried out by Ethnos was published in January 2005.

  3. "What About Us?" Diversity Review evidence - part 2
    Challenging perceptions: provider awareness of under-represented groups
    This research looks at the awareness held by organisations providing access to outdoor recreation of the needs of under-represented groups, plus their current and future plans for meeting those needs.  The work, published in July 2005 was carried out by Surrey University.

  4. Policy and legislation research
    A review of the policy and legislation for outdoor recreation was carried out in conjunction with research into the awareness held by orgnaisations providing access to the outdoors and the countryside.  The report was published in July 2005.

  5. Scoping the economic case for diversity
    The Centre for Economic and Social Inclusion were appointed in September 2005 to undertake a literature review and scope the economic case for increasing the diversity of people accessing outdoor recreation in England.
