Undertakings and Heritage Management Plans

Owners formally agree with HM Revenue & Customs the detailed steps (undertakings) necessary to maintain the land and preserve its character.
Simple sites may only need a schedule of works. However, most designated properties are complex, with a range of features and conflicting management requirements. In these cases Natural England advises that owners prepare a Heritage Management Plan.
We will work with owners and other relevant advisory agencies to agree the scope of the plan and comment on drafts. We may be able to offer grants towards costs of plan preparation.
